Emerging Leader
Kailyn Grant SEAS’26 is a junior majoring in biomedical engineering. She is being recognized for her unwavering dedication to fostering community and mentorship through research, advocacy and outreach. As an undergraduate research assistant in the Danino Lab, Grant engages in synthetic biology research to improve cancer therapeutics while supporting her peers in the lab. She also serves as a Gay Health Advocacy Project peer advocate, providing confidential sexual and reproductive health resources and support to the entire Columbia community. In her roles on the outreach boards of the Columbia Biomedical Engineering Society and the Journal of Global Health, Grant works to expand access to research and STEM education among her peers at Columbia and NYC youth. Through these initiatives, she is committed to creating spaces for collaboration and empowerment in science, healthcare and innovation at Columbia.
I sincerely thank my family, friends and mentors for their invaluable support and guidance throughout my time at Columbia.
