Inclusion and Advocacy
Zoie Geronimi CC’26 is a junior majoring in computer science with a minor in African American studies. Her academic and professional pursuits are rooted in exploring how technology can promote social justice, a passion that has earned her the Inclusion & Advocacy award.
Through her research with the Eric H. Holder Jr. Fellowship, Geronimi critically examines how current technological systems affect marginalized communities, while creating apps that utilize technology for social change. Some of these include EmpowerNYC, GriefCare for Harlem and Legal Ai(d) — each designed to empower social justice organizations and communities. Her work has not only led to invitations to conferences but has also earned her features in publications.
Geronimi also serves as an intern at Columbia’s Rural Recruitment Committee. In this role, she has been instrumental in building a community of rural students on campus and in expanding pathways for students from rural areas to access higher education opportunities.
I wouldn't be who I am today, or where I stand, without my friends and family. I'm forever grateful for your unwavering love, support and encouragement that has always pushed me to pursue my passions.
