Inclusion and Advocacy
Hassane Eugene Fiteni CC’25 is being recognized as a leader in the Columbia community. Shaped by his multicultural background, Fiteni has long been curious about the wider world and found space to explore this at Columbia. As an initiative leader of Global Tech Treks in the Columbia Organization of Rising Entrepreneurs (CORE), Fiteni organized historic trips to Chile and South Africa — the organization’s first ventures to South America and Africa — bringing Columbia undergraduate students to meet with founders, investors and executives across the local tech and finance industries. To expand access to the program, he launched CORE’s first Giving Day, raising funds from alumni to help cover the initiative’s costs, and separately secured support from the College, SEAS and Barnard travel funds to make the experience more inclusive for all students. Fiteni also spent a semester abroad at the University of Hong Kong, which he considers one of his most transformative experiences. Across these efforts, he’s worked to expand Columbia’s global reach and deepen student exposure to the international world. He hopes to stay connected to that mission throughout his life.
Thank you to my father and mother, my sister, older brother and twin brother — and to all my close friends and mentors — for your relentless drive to move mountains and cross oceans and for pushing me to do the same.
