Rebecca Carter CC’27 is being recognized for her work with the Columbia Housing Equity Project (HEP). She has worked as an inventory coordinator, served two semesters as a Direct Outreach team member and currently holds the position of General Body coordinator. HEP sends out Direct Outreach teams twice a day every day to provide food, clothing and resources to those impacted by Columbia's gentrification of Harlem. Carter is honored to have worked with organizations like Defend Harlem to stop Columbia's displacement and predatory land owning practices. As General Body coordinator she has also helped organize naloxone and first aid training for HEP members.
