Award Recognition
Principled Action
Claire Schnatterbeck, a senior at Columbia College, is being recognized for her commitment to principled action. Claire studies political science and international relations with a regional focus on the Middle East.
Outside of the classroom, Claire can be found at the Undergraduate Global Engagement office working as a Global Learning Assistant and encouraging students to study abroad. She also serves as a senior editor at Policy 360, the foreign policy roundtable of the Columbia Political Review.
She recently finished her tenure as the Director of Podcasting and Audio at the Columbia Daily Spectator where she focused on using audio storytelling as a tool to give voice to diverse and often unheard perspectives in the Columbia and Morningside Heights communities. Through working with other upcoming journalists, she advocates for the ethical use of storytelling to transcend societal barriers and help people think outside the walls of their communities.
When she’s not running around with a microphone in hand or writing her next article, one can find Claire extolling the genius of Simon and Garfunkel or ranting about the latest podcast she listened to.
I am thankful to my family, friends, and mentors for their endless support. It has been such a privilege to learn and grow as part of the Columbia community.
