Lloy is a junior in Columbia College majoring in history (of science) and biology, who works to support disabled students as the Chair of the Columbia Mentoring Initiative Disability Justice Family Tree. Passionate about expanding access, Lloy is also compiling a guide for disabled Columbia students, sits on the Biology department DEI committee, and is collaborating with the New Student Orientation Program (NSOP) committee to ensure incoming students with disabilities feel welcome during orientation. Through this work, Lloy hopes to build community and a sense of capacity among disabled students and Columbia, which will allow them to take full advantage of the resources the school has to offer. Lloy is currently preparing research for a senior thesis in history which examines mid 20th-century understandings of fatigue, work, and the human body. The rest of the time, Lloy can either be found TAing for the Biology department or attending Spoons, Columbia's Disability Justice discussion and action group.
I would like to thank my family, friends, and the staff in Multicultural Affairs who have been committed to helping the disability community find a home at Columbia. I am also so grateful to every member of the team who has helped me manage my health to such an extent that I am able to give back to others. I would not be where I am without the village of support I have received.
