Award Recognition
Senior Marshal
Joy Mobley is recognized as a Senior Marshal for her steadfast commitment to the Columbia University Community. Throughout her time at Columbia, Joy has exhibited leadership characteristics, dedicating her time to serving others and emphasizing the importance of inclusion, advocacy, and community. This has been demonstrated throughout Joy's many occupations at Columbia -- President of the Rho Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., President of the Black Students' Organization, CORE Head of Membership, and more. Joy's passions culminated in her working as Project Lead alongside eleven organizations to help her community, the Black community, secure Residential Housing. Further, her passions extend into her academics, as she authors a thesis on the Racial Wealth Gap through the lens of homeownership. Finally, extending beyond Columbia, she serves the Greater Harlem community and has occupied leadership positions to further impact those around her while studying abroad at the University of Oxford.
It is with great honor that I receive the Senior Marshal Award. Throughout my time at Columbia, I have always sought to impact those around me and make positive change. Using my gifts and creativity to help others has been the essence of my character, and I am grateful for this recognition. I thank God, my family, my Sorors, my friends, and all who have contributed to enriching my Columbia experience.
