Alqaim Lalani double majored in Economics and History as a John W. Kluge Scholar. He has been a dynamic leader at Columbia through his active involvement in various prominent student organizations. Alqaim was the President of the Columbia Economic Review, Chair of the Columbia College Senior Fund, East Africa Representative for the Columbia African Development Group, and a Board Member of the Columbia Economics Society. He has demonstrated a deep commitment to helping others by supporting other international students, mentoring youth from first-generation backgrounds, and building social enterprises. Alqaim has also showcased an outstanding record of scholarship and intellectual curiosity, having received the International Affairs Research Fellowship, Theodore de Bary Language Study Fellowship, and Columbia Undergraduate Scholars Program Summer Enhancement Fellowship for his independent research pursuits. Alqaim is a member of Pembroke College, University of Cambridge.
I am honored and humbled to receive these distinguished awards. Columbia University profoundly changed my life and has given me so many wonderful memories. I would like to thank my family for their unwavering support and encouragement. I am also grateful for my professors, mentors, and friends for making my Columbia experience a rewarding and transformational one.
