Senior Marshal
Kaitlyn Brown is a senior in the School of Engineering and Applied Science majoring in applied mathematics and minoring in computer science. She is from Tuxedo, NY. During her time at Columbia, Kaitlyn has served as a leader within the Engineering Recruitment Committee (ERC) and Visitors Center, helping to organize and staff initiatives, such as campus tours, information sessions, panels, and admitted student programming. She enjoys serving as a representative of Columbia for prospective students and being able to welcome them to the campus community. She has also served as a leader within the Society of Women Engineers (SWE). As a junior, she was the Executive Committee Member of the Mentorship Committee, where she helped first-year and sophomore women studying STEM at Columbia find upperclass mentors within their department. As a senior, she serves as the treasurer. She is grateful to have found a supportive community of women in STEM at Columbia through SWE. She has also been a member of the board of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM), planning events that encourage the celebration of mathematics on campus. She'll be working as a database analyst following graduation and completing a Master's in Data Science at Columbia part-time.
I am honored to be recognized as a Senior Marshal. I cannot thank my family enough for their unconditional support and love and their investment in my education. Thank you to all of my friends who have made my four years at Columbia such a positive experience, and thank you to everyone in the ERC, Visitors Center, SWE, and SIAM for their support.
