Bryan Uceda-Alvarez is a Columbian-Honduran American born and raised in South Carolina. Bryan has worked in Columbia special-interest communities for three years, served as Allyship Coordinator and co-founder of Black Unchained, and worked for Columbia Research and Diversity. This work allowed him to work with like-minded individuals to help students find their community and work together to create meaningful change and support networks. He is incredibly passionate about education and supporting others interested in STEM fields, working as a teaching assistant in the psychology department, as a peer tutor, and mentoring new members of his research labs. Through his work in education, Bryan aimed to make academics seem less daunting and help students reach their natural potential.
Thank you to the friends who caught me when I lost my footing, the family that gave me a place to rest when my thoughts became too heavy, and to the people that showed me a new way of being.
