Stephanie Heggli-Nonay is a Sophomore in SEAS majoring in Civil Engineering and minoring in Sustainable Engineering. In her quest for “Engineering for Humanity,” Stephanie has pursued a wide variety of interests at Columbia University. She currently serves as Co-President of the American Society of Engineers, is on the Corporate Committee of the Society of Women Engineers, and works at the Carleton Laboratory. Stephanie is passionate about approaching engineering from diverse perspectives, culminating in her work as the Education and Training Liaison for the Ghana Program at Engineers Without Borders. As Facilitator of the Global Ambassador Program, Stephanie leads a range of on-campus activities that foster intercultural dialogue and exchange. The Columbia Spirit Award recognizes Stephanie’s leadership and dedication to the Columbia community.
I am humbled to receive this award and would like to thank my family for supporting me in everything I do and my friends for uplifting me every day. I am extremely grateful to Columbia University for providing me with so many unique and enriching opportunities to grow and thrive.
