Kwamena is a senior at Columbia College studying Physics. As a physics TA he taught students fundamental physical principles through collaborative teaching techniques. Kwamena is also involved in the Columbia Black Professional Society as a student mentor and the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) as a panelist providing experiences and resources for others. He also mentors students with HYPOTHEkids STEM, a program designed to introduce underserved students in Harlem to science and engineering.
During his time at Columbia, Kwamena has conducted research on simulating galactic evolution, quantum computing noise reduction, and quantum computing ethics. Outside of his passion for physics, Kwamena serves as a COÖP leader, a member of the 129th Varsity Show’s production team, a member of the Columbia Space Initiative, and is involved in Club Soccer. Kwamena plans to pursue a MSc in Mechanical Engineering this fall, as a Gem Fellow for Columbia.
I want to thank my friends and mentors for their endless support. Thank you to my mom and sister for teaching me love and kindness. I am deeply grateful to be a part of this Columbia community, and I am who I am because of the wonderful people I have the privilege of sharing life with.
