Senior Marshal
Claire Choi is a senior at Columbia College studying human rights and political science. During her time at Columbia, Claire has engaged in service and scholarship rooted in her dedication to children’s rights, social equity, and freedom from gender-based violence. On campus, Claire has conducted research about racial reparations with Columbia’s Institute for the Study of Human Rights, and currently investigates policies impacting youth aging out of the juvenile justice system with the Columbia Justice Lab. Claire seeks to cultivate a safe, compassionate, and caring community by supporting her peers as a Peer Advocate with Columbia Sexual Violence Response, mentoring an elementary school student with One-to-One Tutoring, and welcoming new students as an Orientation Leader. Lastly, as a former Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Columbia Undergraduate Law Review and Executive Board Member of the Journal of Politics and Society, Claire is grateful to have helped foster spaces for social and political discourse among her classmates. Off campus, Claire has worked at various children’s rights organizations to help unaccompanied immigrant children seek asylum in the United States, research racism in the American child welfare system, and advance linguistic and racial equity in schools.
