Indelible Mark
Yunzhe Nie is grateful for having the chance to foster, over the past few years, communities among East Asian students and those interested in China-related affairs at Columbia. He is most notably the founder of the Columbia China Forum (CCF), the student group that organizes the first undergraduate-led, China-focused conference on U.S.-China relations and China’s development at Columbia. Launching the inaugural event in April 2022, he hopes to bring leading figures in politics, academia, business, and culture to this platform and, in this process, facilitate constructive dialogues between China and the rest of the world. His passion for serving the community extended to his role as the Vice President of the Activities Board at Columbia (ABC), where he advocated for the financial interests of more than 180 student groups and pushed for policy reforms that increased campus inclusivity toward previously de-recognized student groups and accountability toward existing groups. He is an international student from Suzhou, Jiangsu, China.
I am incredibly honored to have been selected for this award. I am so grateful for the lifelong friendships and relationships I have built here with people I genuinely admire and care for. I want to especially thank my father and mother, who made my education here possible, my mentors and professors, as well as everyone who has supported me along my Columbia Journey.
