Health and Wellness
Over the past four years, Alyssa Sales has led innovative and student-centered initiatives to promote and integrate well-being at Columbia. She has and continues to serve as Co-President of the Active Minds Club, where she has spearheaded the production of mental health resource pamphlets, discussions and panels featuring diverse students’ stories, and creative workshops—from therapy dog events to arts and crafts activities to writing encouraging notes to students studying in libraries. Alyssa has also served as a Senior Editor for Columbia’s Journal of Global Health. She leads students in evaluating research, review papers, and field notes to consider for publication. Her work has raised awareness on diverse perspectives that aim to address global health challenges. Furthermore, as a mentor for the Columbia Mentoring Initiative, Alyssa seeks to mentor students and provide guidance on wellbeing, classes, and social life. She also volunteers her time to patients at Mount Sinai’s Emergency Room.
I would like to thank my family and friends for supporting me throughout my undergraduate career. They have always encouraged me, and their constant support helped drive my desire to lead initiatives that strive to teach people to take care of their mental health as much as their physical health.
