Award Recognition
Community Building
In his time at Columbia, Malcolm has worked tirelessly to build community in the arts. For two years, he music-directed Nonsequitur, the premier co-ed a cappella group on campus, and sits on the boards of both Columbia Musical Theatre Society and Columbia University Performing Arts League. In addition to these leadership roles, Malcolm has music-directed and collaborated on a number of musicals for CMTS, and is the composer of the 129th Annual Varsity Show. His goal is to make the arts a supportive, loving space for all, regardless of experience or background.
I am so honored to receive this award. When I arrived at Columbia, I was unsure about getting involved in the arts. It was thanks to the kindness and support of a few individual students that I was convinced to join the community that has become my home. I made it my mission to continue to extend that grace and care to all those I meet in the arts. All my love.
