Jae Joon Lee has dedicated the last four years at Columbia as a leader, mentor, and advocate for his communities. As a representative in CCSC, the Students of Color Advisory Board, and the Inclusive Public Safety Committee, Jae assisted in establishing bias response policies and mental health advocacy for POC students. His advocacy extends to the co-founding of the API Interboard, a space for active discussion amongst Asian-identifying students on campus, as well as soliciting community resources from University administration to address the rise in anti-Asian hate incidents across the country. As a passionate educator, Jae has held an open finance interview prep course that has benefited over 120 FGLI students since 2020, and creates curricula for free tours at the MET museum for local elementary schools through Meet Me at the Museum. Pursuing an interest in history, Jae is a managing editor for the Columbia Journal of History, where his team publishes marginalized histories.
Life is fleeting, unexpected, and tumultuous. If I have learned anything here, the only thing certain in my life are the wondrous people I’ve had the pleasure of meeting. Thank you to all my family and friends, faculty and staff, mentors and leaders for inspiring laughs and inspiring me. This experience has been temporary, but our relationships are lifelong. Love you all and see you very soon :)
