Principled Action
Gilad Turok is a junior in Columbia College majoring in Applied Math and Computer Science. He is fascinated with using equations to make meaning of our messy world, focusing on machine learning and mathematical modeling to do so. He has research experience in variational inference (reducing error under model misspecification), computational biology (deep learning for molecular structure prediction), and unsupervised meta-learning (currently conducting literature review). He is also interested in Effective Altruism, quantitative finance, and the intersection of health and data. On a personal note, Gilad is obsessed with hiking, scrambled eggs, and NYC rooftops. He is an amateur rock climber, occasional professional, and relentless autodidact. He often reads too many research papers, enjoys the gym, and, unrelated to his caffeine addiction, frequents midnight comedy shows.
