Award Recognition

Community Building
Senior Marshal
During her time at Columbia, Haya has worked on fostering connections in the Arab, Middle Eastern, and International communities. She has been a part of Turath's (Arab Students Association) leadership since her first year, serving as President in her junior year to advocate for Arab students' needs and build community. She has also worked as an intern for the Undergraduate Admissions Office and has been one of the Co-Chairs of the Global Recruitment Committee, where she helped welcome admitted international students to Columbia. Additionally, she's been a mentor and Co-Chair for the Middle Eastern Family Tree as part of the Columbia Mentoring Initiative, where she got the chance to connect first-years to resources and community events on campus and beyond. Lastly, she also served as an orientation leader for the International Student Orientation Program and helped international students with their transition to Columbia and New York.
I am honored to be receiving this award and would like to thank my mentors, friends, and the faculty and staff who have supported me throughout the way. Most importantly, thank you to my family: Mama, Baba, Nour, Mohammad Ali, and Lolwa for being there for me no matter what.
