Award Recognition

Innovation and Enhancement
Eleanor Hansen is being recognized for her creative contributions to two of Columbia’s research communities. At the Developmental Affective Neuroscience Lab, Eleanor has presented original research on children’s experiences of early life adversity at two international conferences, including work for her honors senior thesis. She hopes this work sheds light on connections between adversity and psychopathology, as well as possible points of intervention. At Columbia’s Research Cluster for Science and Subjectivity, Eleanor founded the Tricentennial Project, a group that brought students and faculty together for discussions on climate change. Finally, through RCSS, Eleanor developed an undergraduate seminar on the Rhetoric of Science that is currently being taught through the Department of Comparative Literature. With this project, she aims to provide fellow undergraduates interested in scientific research with humanistic tools to enrich their disciplines. Through all of her research, Eleanor has sought to expand available knowledge at the university.
