Award Recognition

Civic Responsibility
Throughout her time at Columbia, Skylar has continuously demonstrated an innate ability to bridge her diverse interests with her passion for lifting those around her. Beginning in her first year, she continuously advocated for first generation and/or low income students as an Executive Board member of Columbia FLI Network. She has also championed the many voices of womxn interested in all realms of business as both a Committee Member and an Executive Board member of Columbia Women's Business Society. In many ways, she has been able to combine these interests with her genuine love of cross-cultural understanding; after her first year at Columbia she was awarded three fellowships to fully fund her summer study abroad to Seoul, South Korea. As she is interested in the intersection of business, intercultural communication, media, and culture, in the future, Skylar will embrace a global career with civic responsibility at the forefront.
I am so proud to have been a part of a community of such amazing student leaders throughout my four years at Columbia! I am so thankful to have received this award, and I am eternally grateful for my family, friends, and other supporters who have always been there for me. And, of course, thank you to the Jackie Robinson Foundation, the Hispanic Scholarship Fund, and many, many others.
