Award Recognition

Senior Marshal
Noor is a first-generation, college student trailblazing her way through Columbia as a Muslim woman. In her first-year, she worked with Columbia Dining and the Chaplain to advocate for Halal food options in dining halls. She also founded a Special Interest Community (SIC) on campus called the Muslim Student House (MSH). Here, Muslim residents create a safe space for themselves and others to share their experiences with the larger Columbia community. As leader of MSH for the past three years, she has co-led educational events with other identity-organizations on campus to dismantle misconceptions about minority students. Noor is committed to giving back to her NYC community and spends a significant amount of time volunteering in the NICU at Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital to support parents with health resources. She also conducts research on social inequality, for which she was selected to present at the Society for Personality and Social Psychology.
I am so honored to be selected as a senior marshall for my graduating class. I’m grateful to God, my parents, professors, mentors, advisors, and friends for supporting me throughout my journey. I would not be here today without any of you. I would also like to thank ASP and all the organizations that helped create a sense of community on campus. Thank you!
