Tyler Campbell is an educator, writer, and organizer hailing from the city of Philadelphia. He is a Senior at Columbia University double majoring in Creative Writing and African- American Studies. Tyler is the lead instructor for the Justice Ambassadors Youth Council sponsored by the Center for Justice. There he designs curriculum and teaches an 8-week course that seeks to bring together justice-involved youth and city officials to create new policy ideas that will better support NYC's most vulnerable communities. Currently, Tyler is also the Director of the Young Men’s anti-gun violence programming at the New Settlement Community Center in the Bronx. At New Settlement, Tyler works with gang-involved young men of color to empower them to become the next generation of community leaders and critical thinkers. Through a combination of health and wellness, adventure learning, college readiness, social justice-themed artistic programming, he promotes peer leadership, self-confidence, positive risk-taking, and authentic community engagement.
