Award Recognition

Inclusion and Advocacy
Jaine has served as the First Generation, Low Income student representative for three years and chairs the Financial Accessibility Task Force in the Columbia College Student Council. During her time on council, she started the winter meals project, which aimed to provide meals to low-income students stuck on campus during the period of winter break when Columbia dining facilities were closed. She has worked with various FLI student groups as well as administration over the years to advocate for FLI issues and ensure students have better access to course materials and an equitable education. Jaine is the political chair of the Native American Council of Columbia, where she helped achieve university recognition of Indigenous People's Day. Jaine has also been a Hiking Orientation Program leader in the Columbia Outdoor Orientation program.
I'm very grateful to have been honored with this award! Thank you to my friends, mentors, and professors who have continued to support me through my college experience - it would not have been possible without you.
