Megan May Rivera is a proud first generation Filipina woman from Jersey City, New Jersey. For the past four years, she has served as an executive board member of Liga Filipina, Columbia’s sole Filipino cultural organization, acting as the club’s President, Secretary, External Public Relations Officer, and Senior Advisor. She was also heavily involved with FLI efforts at Barnard through the First Generation/Low-Income Student Advisory Board. She would like to thank her mother Cristina, her sisters Rizza and Kristine, Avi Edelman, Dean Jemima Gedeon, Severin Fowles, and all of her family and friends for supporting her throughout her time at Columbia.
