Senior Marshal
Edward S. Brainard Memorial Prize
Over the last four years, Grace Bertelli has worked to make campus an inclusive and accessible place. Grace was the Chapter President of the Columbia Quest Scholars Network; a Resident Advisor for first year students; and a leader in the Undergraduate Recruitment Committee, giving tours and information sessions, coordinating community and mentorship efforts, and increasing outreach to first-generation and low-income students. Grace was an avid runner during her time at Columbia, racing in multiple marathons around the city. Her overall presence on campus has been that of a true role model, shaping the Columbia community in an incredibly positive way. Off campus, Grace interned in the U.S. Senate, on a presidential campaign, and for the Manhattan District Attorney, and is attending law school in the fall. Grace is also the recipient of the Edward S. Brianard Memorial Prize.
I feel so honored to have received these awards, especially from my fellow classmates. Coming to Columbia from a small town in Iowa has been the best decision of my life. I've been able to become involved in so many incredible groups on campus, have meaningful work and volunteer experiences, and meet my absolute best friends. Even if my work as a student leader has changed just one student's time here for the better, it will have all been worth it. Thanks to all my fellow Questies, my former residents and Residential Life, my coworkers, tour guides, and supervisors in Admissions, and all the facilities, staff, and professors who make Columbia so special. Finally, I owe it all to my family back home - I hope to always make you proud.
