Ilaria Simeone is being recognized for Innovation and Enhancement because she has positively enhanced many programs and initiatives at Columbia. Most notably, as a Teaching Assistant, Ilaria has been deeply involved in the process of revamping and rebuilding the curriculum and syllabus for Contemporary Biology Lab, taking the helm in making and organizing lessons, teaching students on Zoom, and being accessible for office hours. Her lesson plan was incredibly engaging and interactive with students and best optimized Zoom learning. Ilaria also enhanced many pre-existing mentorship programs using her leadership, empathy, communication and problem solving skills. Ilaria embodies the spirit of collaboration and generosity, and is always eager to share her curiosities and passions with people around her.
