Jacob Dahan has gone above and beyond in his coursework. During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Jacob scheduled one-on-one ZOOM sessions to meet with professors in order to discuss future research directions. He thrived within these conversations, and went so far as to prepare and present visual aids for meetings. Jacob also excelled as a leader, in both in-person and online classroom settings. His unique ability to foster ongoing dialogue with his peers was among the best of the best. The scientific dialogue Jacob initiated set the precedent for the other students' participation. When other students were grappling with deciphering scientific data, Jacob reliably interjected with uncanny ease and assisted with stellar team-oriented skills to help other students decipher the data. Outside of the classroom, Jacob also volunteers as a campus EMT, provides companionship to those with Alzheimer's disease, and conducts neuroscientific research in two Columbia laboratories.
I am extremely grateful both to receive the King's Crown Leadership and Excellence Award for Health and Wellness and to be named a Senior Marshal. Thank you to my mentors, both academic and extracurricular, for all of the guidance and opportunities you have afforded me. It has been an honor to study at Columbia and to learn from and grow with my peers.
