Senior Marshal
Travis Nelson is a dual degree student at Columbia originally from Hempstead, NY. He has been selected as a senior marshal for the Columbia College 2021 graduating class. During his time at Columbia Travis has served in leadership capacities on 3 of the 6 undergraduate leadership councils. Furthermore, he has been a strong advocate for the Black Lives Matter movement, particularly in the summer of 2020, where he led students and community members to have their voices heard. Travis considers himself a community advocate and is currently working towards police reform in his hometown through the Nassau County Police and Community Trust Initiative aim conjunction with his organizing efforts with Strategy For Black Lives. As a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. he understands the importance of civic engagement, paying it forward and redefining the boundaries for people of color.
