Colby King is being recognized for the powerful impact he has made in creating platforms and advocating for Black communities on campus. As the Race and Ethnicity representative for Columbia College Student Council, leader in the Black Students' Organization, and involvement in University Senate, he has brought attention to other student leaders and administrators about individual and institutional complicity in anti-Black racism. He has been an important voice in campus meetings challenging public safety and community policing as well as advocating for greater institutional accountability to Black communities both on campus and in Harlem.
