Paul Akere has been an engaged member of the student athlete community. As the community service representative for the student-athlete advisory committee (SAAC), Paul has coordinated several initiatives, including a competition for student-athletes to join the marrow registry for Be The Match. During the summer of 2020, Paul reached out to his fellow black student-athletes to uplift their voices and create a space for them to gather. This led to the formation of the black student-athlete alliance, which Paul become co-president of this year. For these involvements are more, Paul deserves the civic responsibility award.
