Hans Montero is receiving the Innovation and Enhancement Award because he has undoubtedly improved and enhanced the teaching and curriculum of the computer science department according to his nominator. His dedicated work as a teaching assistant in the courses Advanced Programming, Operating Systems and Programming Languages and Translators has helped to educate thousands of students in one of the largest departments on campus. He has reinvented the grading scripts architecture to be extensible for all classes in the CS department, writing exams, and came up with ways to make the classes more equitable for underrepresented students. He has shown extreme competence, collaborative ability and initiative in his work as Head TA to make the CS department a better experience for all students--not just those that succeed easily.
