Robert Harron Award
Radhika (Rads) Mehta is being recognized for her dedication to equity and inclusion that informs her leadership and advocacy. As Vice President of Policy on the Columbia College Student Council, she played a key role in developing the CCSC Resource Fund, an initiative to help first-generation and low-income students get the materials they need to succeed while they navigate remote learning and the pandemic. To date, over 550 Columbia College students have been supported through the fund. She also co-created the COVID-19 Academic Adjustments Proposal, which greatly helped alleviate the stress faced by CC and GS students during these hard times by providing flexible grading policies and deadlines. Radhika is also the recipient of the Robert Harron Award, an award given each year to the junior the demonstrates the qualities of grace and generosity.
First off, I want to congratulate all of the other winners. I know some of the other award recipients and am so humbled and grateful to be a part of this great group. I am incredibly thankful to the other members of CCSC, Dean Kromm, Dean Chang, Josh Lucas, Jesse Grimes, and my friends and family for their endless support. Working with all of them has shown me that being generous and graceful in small acts every day leads to more inclusion and a healthier and happier community. :)
