Senior Marshal
As the Senior Class President on the Columbia College Student Council, Maryam Elsayed has been committed to advocating for FGLI students and students of color. She is an intern with Undergraduate Admissions and has served as the co-chair for the Multicultural Recruitment Committee, recruiting underrepresented students to Columbia. She has served as a teaching assistant with America Reads and is currently a mentor with the Double Discovery Center. Maryam was the co-founder of the Interfaith Collective, creating a safe community for students of all religious backgrounds to engage in discussion. She has also been involved in Turath (Arab Students Association) and the Muslim Students Association. Through her leadership, enthusiasm, and kindness, Maryam has undeniably left a positive impact on those around her.
I am deeply honored to receive this award. I'd like to thank the faculty, staff, and my friends who have supported me during my time at Columbia. Most importantly, thank you to Mama and Baba, and my three incredible sisters, Areeg, Salma, and Sarah for always being there for me.
