Award Recognition

Zvi Galil Award for Improvement in Engineering Student Life
Columbia University Formula Racing (CUFR) is an engineering organization dedicated to designing, building, and driving a car each year at the Formula SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) international annual competitions. Our mission is to educate and develop the next generation of engineers and leaders for a sustainably driven future. CUFR accepts students from all four undergraduate schools as well as graduate degree programs, and no engineering experience is required. Our members work as engineers, managers, designers, programmers, photographers, financial experts, and more. After two years of virtual activity, we are excited to compete in-person this year with our traditional internal combustion (IC) vehicle and our first electric vehicle (EV). We hope that the 2022 competition will be the last season for our IC car and look forward to electrifying the team as we promote a future of sustainable transportation at Columbia.
Columbia University Formula Racing thanks the Mechanical and Electrical Engineering departments for supporting the team and helping us move forward despite the challenges of the pandemic. In particular, we appreciate Professor Jeffrey W. Kysar, Professor Josh Browne, Professor Matthias Preindl, Bill Miller, Milko Milkov, Amanda Lombardo, and James Basirico. Thank you to all of our general body members who make our progress possible.
