Questions for ISOP GA Candidates

Dear ISOP GA candidates,

Congratulations on making the shortlist for the ISOP (International Student Orientation Program) graduate coordinator position! Please complete the following questions by 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, March 15, 2015. Ideal answers to the questions are between 500 - 750 words in length. This will allow the search committee to get to know you better as they select candidates for in person/Skype interviews.

One of the ISOP Graduate Coordinator's tasks is to select ISOP participants. The goal is to select incoming students who may need support with the transition the most. What questions would you ask to ensure the target population is selected? Why? *

Who is/are your favorite scholar(s) in the field of international education? How would his/her work inform your approach to creating ISOP sessions for undergraduate international students? *

One of the three main goals of ISOP is to help new international students learn about New York City. What is one place outside of Manhattan (in other four boroughs) where you would take students to visit during ISOP? Why? *

What assessment tool(s) or inventory/inventories would you use to evaluate the learning outcomes of a weeklong orientation program such as ISOP? Explain your choice or assessment tool(s). *

One of the challenges ISOP participants often face is to successfully integrate into NSOP (New Student Orientation Program). Please provide a curriculum/workshop/facilitation plan for a 90-minute session that facilitates the transition into NSOP. *
