International @ Columbia Fall Outing: School Girls

Join International @ Columbia, in collaboration with Students of Color @ Columbia, for our annual pre-Thanksgiving Fall Outing on Sunday, November 18. This event is FREE and open to all Columbia College and Columbia Engineering students.

This year's outing will feature the award-winning off-Broadway play, School Girls; or, The African Mean Girls Play.  It explores the struggles and joys of teenage girls in a Ghanaian boarding school. It delves into social dynamics which influence the ways in which these girls interact with their world and "reinvents the American 'Mean Girl' genre to explore the universal similarities (and glaring differences) facing teenage women across the globe." An audience discussion will follow the performance.

The group will meet on Columbia's Morningside campus at 1:00 p.m. for lunch then depart as a group.  If you do not depart with the group, you will not receive your free ticket and free round-trip MetroCard.

Space is limited. To reserve your spot, you must fill out the form below. Registrants must come to Lerner Hall 510 to fill out an agreement form and travel waiver by Wednesday, November 14 at 5:00 p.m. Please email Hillary Niel to coordinate a time to complete this paperwork.

We will offer standby tickets if available. We will contact you via phone by 1:45 p.m. on the day of the event to notify you if you have received standby tickets. You must arrive at the meet-up location within 10 minutes, or you will forfeit the tickets.
