Bio

Aedan Macdonald is a graduating senior that applied to and was accepted to attend the School of General Studies while serving a four year prison sentence in California for his involvement in marijuana distribution prior to its legalization. After struggling to find work in the months after returning home from prison Aedan began working at the Center for Justice where he conceptualized, developed, and now manages Justice Through Code(JTC). JTC is a semester-long coding and interpersonal skills intensive that utilizes the talent, resources, and network of Columbia Business School to provide formerly incarcerated individuals with access to the education, mentorship, and networks necessary to enter into life-changing careers in the technology industry. Compassionately devoted to extending the opportunities that Columbia has provided to him since his release from prison to the communities of color disproportionately impacted by mass incarceration, Aedan plans to continue his work at Columbia after graduation and scale the program to other universities.
