Isra Eldosougi is a GS student leader studying Evolutionary Biology of the Human Species. After serving as a medical volunteer and advocate at a center for women and children with disabilities in her country of birth, Sudan, she has continued pursue her interest in intersection between human rights and healthcare. At Columbia, she has served as Co-president of Social Justice Medicine, Board Officer of the Muslim Afro Niyyah Student Association, and a CSSC volunteer to distribute mental health and equity resources for students and student-facing providers coping with the COVID-19 crisis. She credits teamwork and community support as the base of her efforts. She plans to remain invested in equity by applying her knowledge and research on health disparities as an industry analyst to her career in medicine.
