Responsibilities for Coordinators
- Meet weekly with professional staff throughout the Spring 2015 semester and summer to manage ISOP logistics.
- Take lead on components of ISOP operations, such as selecting incoming students for ISOP, organizing activities and schedule for ISOP, managing financial and organizational responsibilities, and other required duties for successful implementation of program.
- Starting mid-April (start date negotiable), work up to 25 hours a week during the 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. time frame until July 14, 2015 (exclusive of vacation time).
- Starting July 15, 2015, work full-time (40 hours/week) until August 14, 2015.
- Plan all required OL (Orientation Leader) training sessions (August 21, 22, 23, 2015).
- Keep accurate records of all ISOP planning and event notes.
- Assist with ISOP program and learning outcome evaluation data analysis. Attend debrief meetings after ISOP.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate student in the field of Higher Education, International Education, TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or Multicultural Counseling
- Effective intercultural communication skills and sensitivity in working with students from diverse backgrounds
- Ability to proactively solve problems and take initiative to assist professional staff to improve quality of orientation
- Ability to work both independently and as a team member
- Ability to manage undergraduate team of OLs
- Excellent leadership, communication, time management and listening skills
- Demonstrate good self-awareness and willing to learn and improve throughout the orientation planning process
- Ability to exhibit grace under pressure
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior leadership experiences that are related to international education, intercultural communication and social justice education
- Prior experience with international student support/ESL student support
- Proficiency in more than one language
- Experience living in another culture for more than 6 months
- Experience assisting professional staff with intercultural learning outcome assessment
Compensation for ISOP Graduate Coordinator
- Free on campus housing May 25th thru August 14th, 2015 (or a housing stipend if on campus housing is not needed)
- A stipend of $4500 across 4 payments
The ISOP Graduate Coordinator is eligible to take up to 10 days off during the months of June up to July 14th with prior approval.
