International Buddy Program First-Year Application

The International Buddy Program (IBP) connects current undergraduates ("lions") with incoming international students ("cubs") as they begin their college journey at Columbia. "Lions" will share their experiences and provide advice during the summer and the initial month of your first semester.

All Class of 2023 international students (broad definition) in Columbia College and Columbia Engineering are eligible to apply. IBP coordinators will do our best to match your with a buddy who fits your needs and interests. 

Important Dates

  • The priority deadline to apply is Sunday, May 19 at 11:59 p.m.
  • All "cubs" who meet the priority application deadline will be informed their matched "lions" on Monday, June 3
  • We will continue to accept cub applications on a rolling basis past priority deadline
  • The final deadline to apply is Wednesday, July 31 at 11:59 p.m.
  • Cubs will meet their matched lions in person during International @ Columbia Open House on Friday. September 27
