For tonight's program we explored the genre of Japanese music known as "city pop", which developed in the late 1970s through the 1980s, during the peak of Japan's economic development. "City pop" combines elements of jazz fusion, funk, blues, and adult contemporary music, creating a genre of music inspired by leisure and easy living.
