First we heard "Nixon in China," in honor of yesterday (7/16), the 40th anniversary of Nixon's announcement of the upcoming trip to China.
Also, "L'Italiana in Algeri" premiered on May 22, 1813 in Venice, on the very day that Johanna Rosine was birthing Richard Wagner in Leipzig.

The program began with the BWV 177 - the cantata for the 4th Sunday after Trinity; followed by BWV 149 for the Feast of St. Michael and All Angels.
