A celebration of rain and wind, in anticipation of Hurricane Sandy. Like the Hurricane, the program progressed from east to west, with music from Australia, Burma, Bhutan, India, Persia, Madagascar, Zimbabwe, Albania, the Hopi tribe, Bolivia, and Japan.
Wagnerian Night starting with Tannhauser. To contrast the demands of the Wagnerian soprano, Ortrud's Curse from Lohengrin was played alongside Isolde's Liebestod. To celebrate the 70th anniversary of the world premiere of Richard Strauss's Capriccio, the program included the opera's finale.
