I decided to play Brahms’ masterpiece Ein deutsches Requiem today because the Barnard-Columbia Chorus is going to be performing this work next Friday, April 15th (and I’ll be performing in it, as one of the choristers!) There’s still plenty of time to buy tickets! The concert will be at the Church of the Ascension (221 W 107th Street, between Broadway and Amsterdam), from 8-10 pm.
In the first half of this Cereal Music program, we explored recordings of two composers conducting their own compositions: Miklós Rósza and Igor Stravinsky. Then, in the second half of the program, we had a birthday tribute in honor of Franz Joseph Haydn who was born today March 31st in 1732.
