On October 7th, from 7:30 to 10 PM, WKCR will live-broadcast a listening session from the Hot Club of New York at 20 W 20th St. Hosted by WKCR's very own Matthew “Fat Cat” Rivera. This broadcast is presented as part of WKCR's 85th Anniversary Broadcast Series.

85 years ago WKCR-FM began broadcasting with the recording "Swing is Here" by Gene Krupa, featuring Roy Eldridge, Chu Berry and Benny Goodman. WKCR, Phil Schaap's home, was where the Hot Club of New York began, and Matthew "Fat Cat" Rivera continues to host the Hot Club on the Air every Thursday.

Join us at the Hot Club on October 7th for a special shellac listening extravaganza featuring hot records that tell the story of WKCR's jazz programming in the early days, including the first broadcasts of Thelonious Monk!

The Hot Club of New York is a vibrant jazz archive located in the heart of New York City. Join us for a listening session and immerse yourself in authentic jazz recordings with high end audio equipment and thousands of precious 78s.

The Hot Club of New York is located at 20 W 20th St., Suite 307, and tickets are available on the Hot Club Website.

As always, listeners can tune in at 89.9 FM or at wkcr.org!
