Phil came to Columbia in 2015 following nine years at CUNY College of Staten Island where he advised their radio station and student publications. His ongoing commitment to student media began while an undergraduate at Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania where he was a student leader at their radio station prior to earning a master's degree at Syracuse University's Newhouse School of Public Communications.
