Associate Director of Residential Life
Scott Helfrich and his family live in the Living Learning Center (LLC). In May of 2014, Scott was appointed to serve as the Associate Director for the First Year Area, a residential area comprised of Carman Hall, Furnald Hall, John Jay Hall, and the LLC (Hartley and Wallach Halls). From August of 2005 to May of 2014, Scott was the Associate Director for the LLC and instrumental in creating Res. Inc. Scott earned his B.S. in History from Misericordia University, his M.S. in Higher Education Student Affairs from University of Rochester, and is an Ed.D. doctoral student in Adult Learning and Leadership at Columbia University, Teachers College. With over 18 years working in Student Affairs he has a keen interest in developing strong residential communities while striving to help students lead more balanced personal-academic lives. Immediately, prior to coming to Columbia, Scott worked as a Residence Hall Director for over 5 years at Cornell University. He loves spending time with his family, guiding his children to be ever better community members, exploring New York City, traveling internationally, and cooking. Scott hopes to meet many of you over a cup of coffee or at community events.
