This new play, co-commissioned by Barnard and downtown theatre company New Georges, presents an original, contemporary riff on Hamlet. The play is directed by Assistant Professor of Professional Practice Alice Reagan, features thesis performer India Choquette, and is stage managed by thesis student Amelia Lembeck.

Marlene, successful director of the Top Girls employment agency, throws a dinner party for famous women throughout history: Pope Joan, Chaucer’s Patient Griselda, Breughel’s Dull Gret. From its opening moments Caryl Churchill’s now-classic play sets contemporary women’s struggles for power, recognition, and equality against the rich background of feminist history. But how does Marlene deal with the women in her own life and business?
