International Travel Planning

All students must adhere to the Undergraduate International Travel Policy. All student group travel must first receive Program Approval, which will be submitted by the group's Advisor.  Review this policy and schedule a meeting with your Advisor at least two months in advance of your planned departure.  Please come prepared to discuss the following:

  • The name of the program
  • A description of the program
  • Program type (i.e. conference, service-learning, performance etc.)
  • Dates of travel
  • All locations that are part of the program’s curriculum and/or itinerary
  • Number of undergraduate, graduate and non-CU student participants (if applicable)
  • Name and contact information of any non-Columbia partner organizations
  • Information on travel arrangements (i.e. housing, modes of transportation, program excursions, etc.)
  • Information on support or services provided to students participating in your program (i.e. advising, supervision, medical facilities, emergency resources, pre/post-departure sessions, etc.)

Please note, some international travel may require a longer lead time to plan your trip.  You should consult with your Advisor as soon as you begin thinking of an international trip.
